Quoi+de+neuf+for+Playstation+at+Paris+Games+Week

On Tuesday, October 27, Sony held a Playstation press conference during Paris Games Week, a video game expo that attracts developers from all over the world to showcase their game. After an hour and thirty minute long presentation, here’s whats new:

Sony kicked off with new trailers for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront revealing a new Giant Zombies mode for the former and cool new characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Emperor Palpatine for the latter. Afterwards Bandai-Namco came on stage to talk about their new fighting game lineup, showing footage of Street Fighter 5 and revealing a new story trailer hinting that this new installment might be a prequel. They also announced a release date of February 16, 2016 on PS4 and PC.

Sony then moved on to show a completely new IP called Boundless, an interesting and quirky open world game reminiscent of Minecraft, but with Dinosaurs! Sony then changed gears to Matterfall by Housemarque, the acclaimed developer behind Resogun and Super Stardust. They only showed a CGI trailer focusing on some sort of soldier in space fighting robots but it looks promising. Next, No Man’s Sky revealed a new narrative trailer and (finally) a release date of June 2016.

Afterwards, they transitioned to talking about their 1st party and exclusive games. Sony Japan announced Bloodborne The Old Hunters, a new expansion for the original beloved game. This included an all new area and new weapons like a flamethrower. Then they showcased a gameplay demo of Horizon:Zero Dawn, a post post apocalyptic sci-fi game about cavemen like people fighting robots hundreds of years in the future with bow and arrows. I know, it sounds awesome. Horizon:Zero Dawn will come out in 2016. Finally, they presented Uncharted 4’s multiplayer which looked fast paced and intense. They’ve added a new mechanic called Mysticals, supernatural objects that can help you turn the tide in a match.

It continued by talking about Playstation VR and their all new Sony virtual reality headset which will rival Oculus in 2016. They started by exhibiting a couple of games from different developers. This included Rigs, a team sports game which mixes soccer and mechanized vehicles. After a sizzle reel of a variety of new Playstation VR games, Sony announced that over 200 developers were working on PS VR games.

The final two reveals were arguably the biggest of the night. It started with a trailer for Gran Turismo Sport for PS4. The franchise that sold over 15 million copies on PS3 and which is finally coming to next-gen consoles. After showing a new trailer with interviews of developers, they announced Gran Turismo Sport would come in 2016 and would support PS VR. Next, David Cage came on stage the commended creator of both Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls. With a trailer Cage revealed his new game Detroit:Beyond Human, about an android named Kara trying to live a normal life in the future. Finally Cage set a release date of 2016.

Playstation’s Press Conference at Paris Games Week was full of interesting game reveals and intriguing Playstation VR demos. As Sony just announced they’ve sold over 29 million PS4’s the future of playstation looks bright.
