Didier Farms is located in Lincolnshire, Illinois and has a seasonal pumpkin patch all through October. They offer hayrides, pony rides, camel rides, a petting zoo, a variety of other fun activities for all ages, and, of course, you can pick your own pumpkin to bring home and carve! One of the biggest pumpkin patches in Northern IL is Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm, which is located in Homer Glen, IL. Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm is open all through October and offers a variety of activities. You can get lost in their three acre corn maze, scream your way through the haunted barn, launch a pumpkin into the air with the pumpkin chucker, or search through the pumpkin fields for the perfect pumpkin. Another great activity to enjoy in the fall is visiting a haunted house. Whether you go for the scares, adrenaline rush, or just the entertainment, there are many great haunted houses near Skokie. Here are just a couple:

Fear City Chicago Haunted House is a local thrilling haunted house in Morton Grove, IL. While you walk through abandoned train station, frightening asylum, and zombie ridden hallways, you will encounter many thrilling scares. Fear City is home to two haunted houses: the Fear City Chicago Haunted House and the Our Lady of the Cursed Haunted House. Scream Scene Haunted House is a local fear inducing haunted house in Skokie, IL presented by the Skokie Park District. While you scream your way through the bloody morgue, confusing clown maze, and mirror room, you will meet the frightening living dead. In addition to the events surrounding Halloween, there are many that continue to go on near Thanksgiving. Here are just a few events that occur later in the fall:

The McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade takes place on Nov. 27 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Chicago on State Street. The parade starts at State St. and Congress and continues until Randolph. If you go to the parade, it is recommended to get there a little early for a viewing spot. But, if you don’t feel like getting out of bed on the holiday you can view it on either the live national television broadcast on WGN America or the live local broadcast in high definition on WGN 9 Chicago.

Whether you are an experienced runner or you don’t even know what a 5k is, Chicago is home to many run-walk 5k, 8k, and half-marathon races in the fall.
