Get heated up for Summer Reading book talks

Get+heated+up+for+Summer+Reading+book+talks

Tomorrow after first period students will gather to discuss their Summer Reading books. First period teachers will hand out pieces of paper indicating the room for their book discussion. People who do not have a first period should have been told their room for tomorrow either during homeroom or during their english class today. If you do not have a first period and you did not receive your room assignment, then go to the library as soon as possible.

To prepare for the book talk, you can bring your book, mark certain passages, and write down thought-provoking questions to raise during your discussion. Either way, take advantage of the opportunity to discuss and reflect upon your reading without strictly academic lenses. This program was designed to be “a reflection of what you wanted to read, [to be] about you and your choices, [and to] mimic how people read later in life,” Head Librarian Beverly Zbinden says, since “reading is a lifelong endeavor.” So, enjoy this deviation from the regular school day schedule to explore reading and book discussion for yourself instead of for your class.
