On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Golden Apple Foundation will be holding its annual Teachers for Tomorrow Conference.

The conference is designed to enrich and inspire those who are new to the teaching profession as well as those who are considering going into it after high school. It’s geared toward high school juniors and seniors, college students, and teachers in their first three years on the job.

The Teachers for Tomorrow Conference will be held at Oak Park and Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It costs $25 for high school students to attend, price of lunch included.

Golden Apple Fellows, Teachers of Distinction, and Teaching Scholars will be hosting the conference and Alan Mather, the recipient of the 2014 Stanley C. Golder Award, is the keynote speaker.

“The conference is a great way for prospective teachers to explore the field in a very authentic and inspiring way,” Allegra Giulietti-Schmitt, college and career counselor, said.

The conference’s main topics to be discussed include assessment, evaluation, innovation, and creativity. There will be a welcome ceremony, three blocks for workshops, a break for lunch, a speech by Mather, and a closing session. There will also be raffle prizes!

Any junior or senior who wants to study education and become a teacher is welcome to attend. The grade level you’re interested in teaching doesn’t affect what you’ll get out of the conference – which will be a lot!
