It has been an issue for the last decades of how people view others of different racial groups. Members of the Coming Together in Skokie committee, including citizens of Evanston and students of Evanston Township High School, came together at Skokie’s Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center to kick off the program this past January 11. Some notable visitors attended, including the first lady of Skokie, Susan Van Dusen, the mayor of Skokie himself, George Van Dusen, and Emmy Award-winning journalist Pamela Jones, who hosted for the program.

“After this event, I was able to understand how everyone perceives themselves. It also helped me respect others’ stories,” Felix Monte, Niles North senior who performed in the program, said.

If you missed out on the excitement, here are some of the featured moments of the event.
