Reading Hour: For the love of literacy

Reading+Hour%3A+For+the+love+of+literacy

Many students are unaware of the Reading Hour offered at Niles North. Reading Hour provides students the opportunity to listen to faculty members, and sometimes fellow students, to share a work of literature they enjoy.  The reader, and therefore the topic, changes with each month.  This month, Katie Gjerpen and the students from the debate team will be presenting some of the arguments found within this years debate topic.

Generally, Reading Hour is held the first Thursday of every month in the IRC at 7:30 in the morning.  However, this month, reading hour will be this coming Thursday, November 13.  December 4 will be the last Reading Hour of this semester.

At the end of each school year, all of the teachers receive an email in which they can either volunteer themselves or a member of their club to read at Reading Hour. If you are currently interested in reading, contact Kara Caplan ([email protected]) or Ashley Amelianovich ([email protected]).

The schedule for the rest of the year is as follows:

Date Name
August 28 Jerry Pope
October 2 GSA – Christine Mbah and Stephanie Iafrate
November 13 Katie Gjerpen & the debate team
December 4 Caroline Benjamin
January 8 Scott Dahlberg
February 5 Hillary Tulley
March 5 Aaron Weiss
April 9 Susan Dobinsky and ELL students
