Writers’ Week: learn about violence in WHO Club

Writers+Week%3A+learn+about+violence+in+WHO+Club

The Marillac House and Hope Jr. Program is educating Niles North about the violence in Chicago at WHO (We Help Others) Club. They will be presenting on Wednesday, Feb. 26th, at 3:30 p.m. in room 1100.

The Marillac House and Hope Jr. Program will be bringing six young people ages 16 to 25. These young people will be doing pieces of original poetry about the violence in Chicago. All Niles North Students in the audience will receive a copy of the book “How Long Must I Cry,” a collection of stories about violence in Chicago. Some of the chapters in the book belong to two of the presenters where they talk about their stories and hardships.

“The poetry and the stories should be very compelling,” Pankaj Sharma, sponsor of WHO Club, said.

WHO Club meets every Wednesday after school where students get to meet different charities representatives and learn about issues around the world.
