A guide to junior year

A+guide+to+junior+year

Junior year is said to be the hardest year of your high school career. These ten tips will help you survive the year stress free.

  1. Have a good relationship with your teacher. Get use to talking to your teachers because they can help you a lot. If you need an extension, talk to them and as long as it’s not the day before most teachers will give you the extension or help you in some way.
  2. Take more then one ACT. You can study for it but you don’t really realize what it’s like until you take it. Don’t worry about your first score. Just taking the test helps with knowing what to focus on and with being accustomed to the format, so you can practice timing yourself.
  3. Do your homework ahead of time. The more homework you get done just think about all the extra time you’ll have. If you have a paper due Monday, do it during the week or Friday that way you can spend Sunday stress free and can relax.
  4. Try new things. College is coming up and you want to be ready. One thing that can help you is if you try new things during your free time to help figure out what you might want to do in the future.
  5. Let your parents help you.  Parents may seem like a bother but they really can help you. It doesn’t matter if they can’t particularly help you with Math or English. They may have helpful ricks up their sleeve that you wouldn’t expect.
  6. Study groups. They can help a lot as long as you get the right people. Don’t study with your best friend that gets you of topic. Study with the friend that will keep you as on task as themselves.
  7. Make time for friends. This year doesn’t have to be all about school. Be sure to nurture your existing friendships, and maybe make a tradition out of going out to do something special once a month.
  8.  Homework.  Some homework doesn’t count for points. I get that it’s easiest to not do the work, but homework isn’t just busy work; it actually helps you. The more you see a particular type of math problem, for example, the more comfortable you are with solving it.
  9. Keep working.  Don’t slack off because you think your grades are fine. Keeping working hard and get your grade as high as possible. Now during the final, you won’t have to worry about your A going to a B.
  10. Relax. Make time for you and do things that you truly enjoy. Above all, be sure to relax at times and get sleep to rejuvenate. This year can seem stressful, but if you balance your time between work and rest you will be fine.
