Blackhawks tied in the Western Conference

This Stanley Cup series was beginning to look like a repeat of last year. Many hockey fans think that the Blackhawks are well on their way to becoming a hockey dynasty with another pending Stanley Cup win. If the Blackhawks manage to pull this through they will have brought the Stanley Cup back to Chicago three times in less than a five year period – a new record in the Blackhawks franchise.

Although the NHL seemed to favor the Blues winning the first round, the Hawks managed to revive themselves from a two game loss and they took the title in a huge game six win in St.Louis.

The second round seemed like it would be more of a challenge as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Colorado Avalanche, the team that held the first spot in the Central Division. This round was much less physical and more equally aggressive in playing skills. The Wild are known for being very responsive to well thought-out plays, but the Blackhawks managed to calm the challenge by winning in game 6 at home with an overtime goal from Patrick Kane.

Now the Blackhawks are in the Western Conference finals and they’re facing the Los Angeles Kings, just as they had last year. Right now the series is tied at 1-1 with the surprising King’s sweep in game 2. This was the first time so far in this playoffs series that the Hawks have lost at home.

Game 3 will be this Saturday in Los Angeles. You can expect the Kings to feel a new sense of confidence that will only be aided by their home ice advantage. The Blackhawks, in my opinion, maybe needed this game 2 loss as a reminder of what is at stake and how nothing is guaranteed.

As an avid Blackhawks fan, I’m sure the Hawks can destroy the King’s newfound momentum and even take the Western Conference title by game 6. We Blackhawks fans know very well that it is possible for us to work our way to the final round. We’ve seen it happen many times before.
