The Flash season two hits the ground running

The+Flash+season+two+hits+the+ground+running

Last season on the Flash back in May we left Barry struggling with the outcome of Wells and Eddie’s deaths and saw him try to stop a singularity from destroying Central city. The premiere episode this season was equally as heartbreaking and emotional picking up 6 months after Barry stopped the singularity. Barry is sulking because of the events of last season and because of a new revelation that Ronnie A.K.A. Firestorm died stopping the black hole.

“OMG! Season two was just amazing. I thought it was going to be bad because usually shows start to drag, but woah, I was not disappointed at all,” Tahir Razzaq, fan, said.

As soon as the episode starts we find Team Flash disbanded. Cisco is a scientific consultant at the Police Department, Caitlin is working at Mercury Labs, and Barry has been rebuilding parts of the city that were destroyed by the black hole. Them being apart doesn’t last for long, when Central City celebrates Flash Day to commemorate Barry.

This is when the villain of this episode first appears, Atom Smasher, who can grow to huge sizes when he absorbs radiation. Seeing Barry fight him was cool and the effects really stood out when they made him enlarge. After Team Flash comes together to outwit Atom Smasher, he divulges that he’s from Earth 2, an alternate reality and that Zoom sent him to kill Barry. Obviously this is setting up the big villain of this season, Zoom who is another Reverse Flash from this other Earth.

At the end of the episode Barry’s Dad was let out of jail after Harrison Wells confession video. Seeing Barry and his dad be together was a great payoff after having him in jail for a whole season. However it was bittersweet after he told Barry that he’s more important to the world as the Flash and not as his son. This moment felt a little out of character for Barry’s Dad after Barry has wanted to see him for so long.

The premiere episode of the Flash was emotional, action-packed, and set up a lot of cool comic book things to come. Last season of The Flash was an amazing homage to the comics and if this episode is any indication, this one will be too.
