The Niles North Percussion Ensemble is having their first concert of the year on Friday, January 23. The performance will be in the held in the auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Michael Moehlmann, and though it sometimes flies under the radar, they are without a doubt one of, if not the most talented, fine arts groups at Niles North.

There is a wide array of instruments involved, from drums to marimbas, cymbals to timpanis and so much more. To the general public, you might not know what those instruments even are – all the more reason to check it out!

Senior Andrew Goldberg commented on his excitement for the concert.

“For this concert, I’m looking forward to showing the school what the percussion ensemble has and how cool it sounds when it’s all put together. Also to show people that percussion can be as moving and musical as any other art form,” he said. “My favorite piece would have to be “Stained Glass” because of all the meter changes and the different tones and textures the movements in the song present.”

There’s no better way to spend your Friday night, so come check out their concert! Especially if you’ve never been to one of their performances, you’ll definitely be amazed at how they play.
