Next week, March 2 – 6, is the fourth annual Writer’s Week at Niles North High School. Writer’s Week 2015 will be in the East Student Commons during most periods throughout the week.
During Writer’s Week, many guest speakers will be in the East Commons to share their work. This year, there are many new presenters and some returnees coming to Niles North for Writer’s Week.
Tony Bradburn, Director of Humanities at Niles North, said, “We are offering 32 different presentations by 16 different presenters. About a dozen of these presenters are new to Writers’ Week. These presenters will be sharing their work and will be inviting students into their passion for writing.”
This year’s Writer’s Week sessions will include playwrights, actors, journalists, radio personalities, novelists, alumni, interviewers, authors, and poets. Students are welcome to attend the sessions on their own, during their free and lunch periods. Teachers can also bring their classes to the guest speakers’ presentations. In order to attend as a teacher with a class, you must reserve your seats on the registration forms. Students who wish to attend individually are also encouraged to reserve their seats, as there is limited seating for drop-in attendees.

Since juniors and sophomores have PLAN and ACT/IACT tests on March 3 and freshmen and seniors do not have school, Writer’s Week will not occur that Tuesday, but will continue on Wednesday, March 4.
